Side effects are referred to as an unwanted response to certain medications which can either be mild, severe, permanent or temporary. Birth control pills like Yasmin are known for preventing conception quite effectively, but it may also cause side effects because it is a prescription medication. The intensity of these side effects may vary from person to person. Yasmin is one of the most popular oral contraceptive pills available today. It falls under the category of combined contraceptive pills as it consists of two synthetic hormones, namely drospirenone and ethinylestradiol.
Yasmin is considered unique as they significantly reduce the risk of weight gain, which is a common possibility with other pills. Although, a large number of women are inclined towards this effective hormonal contraceptive pill, there are many women who feel apprehensive about the potential side effects. Yasmin is taken for 21 days of your menstrual cycle after which there is a break of seven days. During this time, you may experience a few side effects if your body is sensitive to the influx of hormones.
If you are using the pill for the first time you may experience few side effects, as it takes time for your body to get used to the ingredients in the medication. However, these side effects don’t normally tend to last long. The most common side effects are nausea, headaches, breast pain, menstrual changes and abdominal pain. This medication is usually not prescribed to women who had complications such as blood clot or stroke, heart diseases, uterine or breast cancer, kidney and liver diseases and high blood pressure.
